In short: EasySay recognizes speech right on your Mac, Windows PC or iPhone. We don’t collect your recordings or texts, and the app has no ads or analytics. EasySay goes online only in the cases listed below.
What stays on your device
- Speech recognition (Whisper) and the local AI module run on your computer or phone.
- Dictation history, notes, meeting recordings, transcripts and your vocabulary are stored only locally. On a Mac they live in
~/Library/Application Support/EasySay. You can delete them in the app settings or together with that folder.
- Cloud service keys, if you add any, are stored in the macOS Keychain.
When EasySay goes online
- Downloading models. On first launch and when you tap the button, the app downloads speech and AI models (for example, from Hugging Face). The download server sees your IP address, as with any file download.
- Checking for updates. Once a day EasySay for Mac requests the list of versions from easysay.app. Only the app version and technical request data are sent.
- Transcribing a link. If you paste a video link, EasySay downloads its audio or subtitles from that site. Recognition then runs locally.
- Cloud AI, only if you choose it. If you add your own Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini key and turn on the cloud for a task, the text (or audio, for cloud recognition) of that task is sent to the chosen service with your key. That service’s rules then apply. Without your key nothing goes to the cloud.
- Connecting AI assistants (MCP). If you turn it on, an assistant on your Mac (for example, Claude) can read meetings and notes or work with videos, but only when you ask it to.
EasySay on iPhone
- Speech is recognized on the iPhone. Dictations, history, meeting recordings and transcripts are stored only on the phone and are deleted with the app. In private mode history isn’t saved at all.
- The EasySay keyboard. Full Access is used only to connect the keyboard with the EasySay app on the same iPhone: the keyboard sends “start / stop” and the app returns the finished text. The keyboard doesn’t store or send anything you type.
- The app uses no ads, analytics or tracking.
Purchase and license
- On our website, payments are processed by lava.top. We receive your email, the plan you chose and the payment status. We never see your card details.
- In the App Store, payments are processed by Apple. We don’t receive your payment details or Apple ID.
- Activation. To make your license work on your devices, the easysay.app server stores the purchase email, a random identifier for each device and its name (for example, “MacBook Pro”). This data is used only to check the license and is never shared with third parties. To delete it, write to [email protected].
Problem reports
The “Report a problem” button collects a technical log and opens an email in your mail app. Nothing is sent until you press Send yourself. Dictation texts are included in the log only if you turned on extended diagnostics.
Recording conversations
In many countries you must tell the other people that a conversation is being recorded. Please follow the laws of your country when you record meetings.
